We’re Off . . .
Starting Monday, February 25th, I’ll be hitting the road for a week-long flurry of events (all in the west). Most days will see me in two or three schools, bonding with smaller folk. But I’ll also be doing a few non-school signings and readings that will be open to the public without age discrimination. If you feel the need to hear an excerpt or two from 100 Cupboards, or would like me to put my thumbprint in your book, then please stop on by (assuming, of course, that you’re in the Denver, Salt Lake, or Seattle areas). The schedule is below. Cheers.

- Starred Review
- 07/05/07

Leepike Ridge received its first starred review in the July/August issue of The Bulletin. They said nice things like, "This is a ripping good adventure yarn . . . deftly paced." And,
"Here's the perfect remedy for any summer that's been short on thrills." Read the whole thing here.
I've always enjoyed the use of . . . in review excerpts. Here's a slightly different version of the same review: "Tom was only looking for . . . albino . . . deliciously stupid . . . pre-Columbian . . . thrills."
- Hoopfest

So, three-on-three street basketball is entirely in keeping with the promotion of a Children's book. Team Leepike Ridge hits Spokane Hoopfest (Elite Division) as June 30th dies into July 1st. Hoopfest is the world's largest three-on-three tournament (more than 6,000 teams and around 24,000 players), shutting down central Spokane, WA for two days. Leepike Ridge will be represented by myself, Aaron Rench (agent), Joe Casebolt (friend who-in third grade-first discovered a Styrofoam slab suitable for sailing creeks), and Pete Robertstad (agent's friend and ringer). Thanks to Random House, for their tolerance, Wal-Mart, for promising us lots of free Gatorade, and Red Robin, for pledging a burger-sponsorship.
Book signing in front of Auntie's Books in the midst of all the mayhem: June 30th, 12-1pm.
- Borders Original Voice
- 06/02/07
- Borders Books has selected Leepike Ridge to feature in their stores through the month of June as part of their Original Voices program. I've always liked Borders. Stop on by your local B. and make sure they didn't accidentally shelve it under "Self-Help."
- Hand Cramp - Release (the day after)

Thanks to the crowd who showed up to snatch copies of Leepike Ridge (and The Old Stories). And apologies for all unoriginal (or too original inscriptions). But cut me some slack. I'm new to this and official estimates place books-signed at somewhere above 200 copies in less than 180 minutes.
Thanks also to local sponsors (The Palouse Empire Mall, Starbucks, CC Benefits, Canon Press) and Aaron Rench (agent) and Lizzie Jank (author-sis) for making it pop.
