Pre-Christmas Giveaway #1

So, I’ve decided to give away more than just Boxing Monkey Patches (though you can still get one by following the instructions here). Now I’ll be giving away signed copies of all my books (Leepike Ridge through The Dragon’s Tooth) in various drawings throughout the holiday season. And entering the first drawing is a great deal easier than pi (which is actually quite difficult). Here’s how to enter…

First, you’ve already seen The Dragon’s Tooth book trailer. Just for fun, we commissioned an alternative score for that trailer (more bluesy/rock). Watch here and be sure to compare it with the original. Vote for your favorite.

Second, hustle over to the new Ashtown Burials Facebook page and Like it. All peeps who vote and Like are automatically in the game for our first giveaway. Up for grabs this time? A signed complete set of the 100 Cupboards trilogy, and two copies of The Dragon’s Tooth AUDIOBOOK. Making three winners in all. Cheers!

Original one is more “epic” sounding.

Daniel’s right, I think. The Original is better, and its got my vote.

In this new score, I found myself naturally listening to the music more than the words, which drew my attention away from the trailer and gave me a scattered feeling.

The Original complements the trailer more.

I like the original, KJV. Agree that it’s more weighty.

I voted, but had already liked the page. Do I still get a vote?

And I like the epic soundtrack, too.

I like the new one. Our kids love your adventure stories!

I like both, but I like the original score more because it allows the focus to be on the dialogue.

They both sound great, but the original I think is more fitting to the mood of the book; it’s more intense and foreboding. So my vote goes to the Original.
Question: Do we have to vote for it here and like the facebook page (certain problems are created when one does not have a facebook account, such as me)?

Alas, I have no facebook account, but I would like to enter the contest. I think that the original score is better, because it conveys more of the intensity and dark, adventuresome excitement of the book. (The second score seems in some ways to fit Cyrus and Antigone’s characters better, but is a little too leisurely and lighthearted for the plot and feels rather pasted-on.)

I prefer the original since it goes more with the book.

Listened to this with musician daughter age 15… she preferred the first; said the second musical score was much too repetitive.

Over in the Miller household we like the new one better. The original is good, but sounds like most others. The bluesy one is more original and it fits the book better. :)

That’s a wrap. The first pre-Christmas giveaway is no more. We have three (3) winners! Cat Sentz and Brian Nolder have won The Dragon’s Tooth on CD and Daniel Patz has won the 100 Cupboards trilogy. Cheers!

Liked page, voted – I like the second one better because it’s more like a movie trailer.
